Health anxiety is the fear of having a serious medical condition.
Anyone who has gone through training in the health care field (doctors, nurses, Social Workers, PT/OTs, etc.) may have experienced this as they learn about new disorders or come across new illnesses.
COVID has expanded and increased this fear to more and more people. As we have seen with COVID, not all health anxiety is bad: it allows us to behave in a manner that keeps us safe.
