To me, therapy is a space to explore patterns of behavior that stem from the stories we tell ourselves that make up our daily lives. I believe with reflection, one’s narrative and perspective can shift to grow and heal. Yet, opening up to support is not easy. This is why I utilize goal setting, so people lay their own foundation for our time together. Then I strive to leverage strengths and values and build skills using techniques from Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Family Systems.

I have an extensive background working with individuals who have experienced complex trauma involving refugee resettlement, justice involvement, homelessness, chronic illness, adoption, and bereavement. I work well with people seeking support for ADHD, anxiety, adjustment, and depression symptoms. I particularly love working with teens and young adults as they navigate quarter life crises and transitions including adjusting to college, graduating from college, and entering the workforce or graduate school.

I have a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Chicago, where I specialized in transformative justice, and hold a Bachelor’s degree in nonfiction creative writing from the University of Iowa. I am particularly interested in restorative practices as well as the mind-body connection and have spent over a decade studying and teaching yoga and mindfulness.

My previous training includes the University of Washington’s Center for Suicide Prevention and Recovery (CSPAR) DBT Skills Training, the AIMS center’s Collaborative Care Training, Seattle Children’s First Approach Skills Training (FAST), CBT+, Trauma Focused CBT, and hold a Registered Yoga Training – 200 hours. In addition to my time at Peaceful Soul Healing, I work at Harborview in the pediatric clinic where I integrate mental health into a primary care setting. I also serve on the Washington State Newcomer Mental Health Workgroup where I am passionate about finding better ways to deliver mental health services for newly arrived youth.
