I find meaning in working with adults and adolescents to process complex issues in their lives, whether that be healthcare related issues such as a new medical diagnosis in oneself or a loved one, major life changes, trauma, anxiety, grief, or something else that feels too heavy to carry alone. Every person has their own unique hardships, and my goal is to help you find the peace and joy you deserve no matter what you’re facing.
I have experience working with adolescents struggling with self-esteem and identity, as well as the pressures of school, social connections, family dynamics, and even social media. I’ve also worked with folks to process their trauma, manage daily anxiety and overwhelm, navigate complex relationships or breakups, and adjust to life changes of all magnitudes.
As a Mexican woman, I’m also passionate about working with the Hispanic community - shared understanding and experiences can be very powerful, and sometimes having someone who shares some part of your identity can make it easier to open up. I also understand the complexities of being mixed race, and the difficulties of finding belonging culturally and socially. Amidst the targeted attacks on our communities, and the fear, anger, and grief they’re causing, I am here to provide support for those needing a place to have their voice heard.
My therapeutic style is collaborative, non-judgmental, and centers you as the expert in your life. I value open-mindedness - our space is a safe place for you to be you! My approach targets your needs - this might look like using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to explore your core values, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to reduce negative self-talk or thoughts, or mindfulness to help you stay present and improve focus. I’ve completed formal training in the treatment of trauma and the effects of trauma on the brain, and approach it by first building your emotional regulation skills to ensure we can safely process difficult memories knowing you're able to calm your nervous system after.
I am currently collaborating with the nonprofit Deconstructing The Mental Health System (https://dmhsus.org/), a collective of 100% BIPOC therapists working towards creating an anti-racist, culturally inclusive, and equitable mental health system. I value this work as I’ve watched my own family be failed by systems that aren’t built to be welcoming to BIPOC individuals.
I am a Licensed Social Work Associate (LSWAIC) in the State of Washington and hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Eastern Washington University. I have a
bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in diversity from the University of Washington as well.
I look forward to getting to know you and exploring what you’d like to work on, and also hearing about the things that bring you joy and meaning in life!
